About Ryckman Appraisals

Meet Eric Ryckman

I help vehicle owners, attorneys and repair professionals understand vehicle values and repair concerns. My appraisal work draws on more than two decades in collision repair, insurance claims and automotive estimating data.

Experience across the claim

Baltimore body shops

I started with hands-on repair work while attending Mergenthaler Technical School. That experience still shapes how I assess damage, repair records and the work behind an estimate.

13 years at GEICO

I handled claims before moving into management and process improvement. That gave me a close understanding of how insurers evaluate vehicles, document losses and make claim decisions.

Collision operations and Tesla

I returned to collision repair operations, then worked at Tesla as Senior Program Manager of Collision Estimatics. There, I worked with the vehicle and repair data used by major estimating systems.

Experience in the details

I’ve managed high-end collision repairs, including the Mercedes-Benz project shown here. That experience helps me look beyond an estimate’s total and ask how the repair was planned, documented and carried out.

How I approach your appraisal

Every assignment begins with the question you need answered. What was your vehicle worth before the loss? Did an accident reduce its market value? Do completed repairs need a closer look?

My approach is straightforward:

  1. Review the vehicle details and available records

  2. Research relevant market evidence or repair information

  3. Apply professional judgment and explain the conclusion

The report should show how the evidence supports the opinion, including any important limitations. You should be able to understand the reasoning and use the findings in your next conversation.

Local roots

Based in Maryland

Maryland is home, and Baltimore is where I learned the trade. Ryckman Appraisals serves clients across Maryland and the broader Mid-Atlantic.
